Ausclin is a dietetics practice in Mount Hutton, in the middle of Lake Macquarie. Both of our clinicians, Felicity Bull and Tahnia Middleton, are Accredited Practising Dietitians, the credential recognised by Medicare, the NDIS, DVA and private health funds for clinical nutrition care. Tahnia is also a Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician.
Our care is inclusive, trauma-informed and neuroaffirming. We do not weigh you without your consent, we do not prescribe restriction as a default, and we work with you rather than handing you a meal plan and a follow-up date.

Getting to our rooms
We are a short drive from Charlestown, Warners Bay, Belmont, Windale, Gateshead, Eleebana, Valentine, Whitebridge, Redhead, Dudley, Cardiff, Glendale, Speers Point and Boolaroo, and clients also come to us from Toronto, Swansea and Morisset.
Parking and public transport. There is a car park at our rooms. If you are driving along Warners Bay Road, we are in the building beside, and just after, the Mount Hutton Medical & Skin Cancer Centre, on your left. There is plenty of public transport nearby, and Lake Macquarie Square is within walking distance.

Home visits and telehealth
Most appointments are in our Mount Hutton rooms. Home visits can be arranged case by case, for example when getting to the rooms is difficult. Ask us about it when you get in touch.
If it suits you better, telehealth appointments are available anywhere in Lake Macquarie and Australia-wide, with the same Medicare and private health rebates as an in-person visit.
Working with your GP and local health services
We work alongside your GP, psychologist and other health professionals. If you would like a Medicare rebate, your GP can refer you under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan or an Eating Disorder Plan. GPs and practice staff can use our referral page.
When someone needs more care than a private practice can safely provide, for example a hospital admission, we work with Hunter New England Health, which runs Belmont Hospital and John Hunter Hospital, and with your GP to arrange it.

Do I need a referral to see a dietitian?
No. You can book directly with an Accredited Practising Dietitian. A GP referral is only needed if you want to claim a Medicare rebate.
Is seeing a dietitian covered by Medicare?
It can be. With a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan, Medicare pays a rebate of $63.40 per eligible session (item 10954), for up to five allied health sessions a calendar year. The Eating Disorder Plan allows more sessions. Most private health funds with extras cover also pay a rebate. Check your eligibility.
Can a dietitian visit me at home?
