Now offering focused prenatal consults

Alongside the full prenatal assessments Ausclin has always offered, there are now four short, fixed-price telehealth consults aimed at the specific problems that make pregnancy miserable and are hard to solve at 2am with a search engine.

Your nutrition needs genuinely do rise in pregnancy, and it matters for both of you. But when you are exhausted and nauseated, general advice about a balanced diet is not much use. These consults start from the problem you actually have.

Accredited Practising Dietitian · Founder

Felicity runs Ausclin’s prenatal consults. She graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2010 and has worked clinically in the public health system ever since, across settings from critical care to eating disorders and adolescent mental health.

Women’s health is a central part of her private practice: PCOS, endometriosis, fertility and conception, recurrent miscarriage, pregnancy and early parenthood. Her approach combines evidence-based medical nutrition therapy with client-led, trauma-informed principles, and she works closely with multidisciplinary teams, so what you get is a plan your GP and midwife can work with.

How it works

  1. Book online and pick a time that suits you.
  2. Fill in a short form, about ten minutes, so we start with the useful part.
  3. Jump on a video call from wherever you are comfortable.
  4. Get your personalised plan by email within 24 hours.

Want the full picture?

Once the immediate problem is sorted, the Prenatal Nutrition Assessment looks at everything together: iron, iodine, folate, protein, weight gain and what is coming next. Book within four weeks of a mini consult and what you paid comes off the price.

Who these consults suit

A good fit if you have one specific problem making you miserable, you want a plan you can act on this week, or you would rather not wait for a longer appointment to deal with something urgent.

Book the full assessment instead if you have several things going on at once, you are managing a condition such as gestational diabetes, PCOS or coeliac disease alongside pregnancy, you are carrying multiples, or you follow a restricted diet and want the whole picture checked.

See your GP or midwife first if you cannot keep fluids down, you have urinary symptoms right now, you have abdominal pain, bleeding or reduced fetal movements, or you are losing weight. Nutrition support works alongside medical care, never instead of it.

Telehealth, and in person

All four mini consults are by telehealth, so you can do them from home anywhere in Australia, which matters when you are nauseated, exhausted or chasing other children. Ausclin also sees clients in person at Mount Hutton, covering Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and the wider Hunter, and works with people in Maitland, Port Stephens, Cessnock and on the Central Coast by video.

You do not need a referral to book. If you have a GP Management Plan or another referral, bring it and we will work with it.

Common questions

Do I need a referral?

No, you can book directly. If you have a GP Management Plan or another referral, bring it along and we will work with it.

Can I claim it on my health fund?

Many funds rebate dietitian consults under extras cover, including telehealth, but the rules differ by fund and level of cover. Check with your fund before booking so there are no surprises.

Does this replace my midwife or GP?

No. We work alongside your pregnancy care team, and we will always tell you when something needs a doctor.

What if I am too sick to fill in the form?

Do what you can. Even a rough idea of what you have eaten in the last day is enough to work with.

Are the consults available outside Newcastle?

Yes. All the mini consults are telehealth, so you can book from anywhere in Australia. Ausclin also sees clients in person at Mount Hutton.

How soon will I get my plan?

By email within 24 hours of the consult, written so you can start that day.
